Parkstone Bay Marina is located next
to sandbanks in Poole Dorset and approached us in the autumn of 2008 to
remove the ageing jetty and rusted sheet piles surrounding the
slipway and proposed fuelling depot. After consultation with ourselves
the client decided to use the new environmentally friendly plastic sheet
pile option, these are made from all recycled products and are very
sturdy indeed, will not rust over time, and cause zero pollution to the
harbour. The harbour master was delighted with this choice and
thoroughly endorsed their use. The
client also instructed us to carry out all works for the refuelling
station located adjacent to the slipway. An interceptor tank and
catchment bund were installed to meet with the very high requirements of
the environment agency, strict guidelines had to be met due to location
and sensitive wildlife in the area. Any chance of fuel spillage into the
harbour had to be eliminated completely.
The entire area was then encased with
reinforced concrete slabs forming a clean and safe environment for the
marinas watercraft to refuel from. As a local company we were delighted
to help protect Poole harbour with its diverse wildlife population and
ensure its safe enjoyment for the next generation.
